Real leather £450.00Women’s Modern Shearling Aviator Lambskin Leather Jacket
Real leather £450.00A shearling jacket is sheepskin with the wool sheared to an even depth, worn fleece in and leather out. It is the warmest thing you can put on that still looks like a jacket rather than a duvet, and it is the reason these have never really gone away.
Real shearling and faux shearling
Faux shearling is everywhere at the moment and some of it looks convincing in a photograph. It does not feel the same and it does not last. Press real wool and it springs back. Press the faux version and it stays flat, which is roughly what happens to it after one winter. Every jacket in this category is real. Anything faux we sell says faux on its own product page.
The women’s shearling jackets we make
Shearling aviator jacket. The big collar, the straps, the proper flying jacket look. Warmest thing here, and the men’s versions are on our sheepskin flying jackets page.
Cropped shearling jacket. Short in the body and far easier to wear over a dress or with a longer skirt. More of the same length on our cropped jackets page.
Shearling collar and trim. A leather biker jacket with fleece only at the collar or cuffs. Nothing like the bulk, and still warm at the neck.
Brown, black, cream and grey shearling
A brown shearling jacket is the one most women start with and it suits nearly everyone. Black is sharper and works better over tailoring. Cream and ivory look expensive and need looking after. Grey sits quietly between the lot of them.
How a shearling jacket should fit
Shearling is thick, so it takes up more room than a leather jacket of the same size. Measure your bust over a jumper rather than a light top, then check the table on the product page. If you are between sizes, go up.
Looking after real shearling
Heat is what kills it. Keep it off radiators and out of the tumble dryer. If it gets wet, hang it somewhere with air moving and leave it to dry on its own. Only use a cleaner who does sheepskin.
Made to order, and how long it takes
Womens shearling jackets, sheepskin and leather
Shearling, sheepskin and fleece lined all end up meaning much the same thing here. Ladies leather sheepskin jackets, womens shearling jackets and a leather shearling coat are three names for wool attached to hide. A shearling biker jacket womens cut puts that wool on a biker shape, which is the most popular version we make.
Coat means longer, jacket means shorter, and the product page gives the back length so you can see which is which. Womens leather flying jackets are the aviator versions with the big collar.
Cut and stitched in your size after you order, which is why it takes longer than ready made stock. The date on the product page is the real one and UK delivery is free. For something lighter, try our suede jackets or a collarless leather jacket.
