Real leather £749.00A leather trench coat is the longest thing we make and the only one that covers a suit or a dress properly. Belted at the waist, cut to the knee or just below, and heavy enough to stand up on its own.
Trench, car coat or long coat?
A trench is the belted one, usually double breasted, with the collar that folds up at the back of the neck. A car coat is shorter, finishing around mid thigh, and it came from actually driving in it. A plain long coat is anything past the hip without the belt. All three are on this page because most people search for the look rather than the exact name.
Leather or shearling for a British winter
A womens leather trench coat is windproof and smart but it is not warm on its own. It needs a jumper under it in January. If you want the length and the warmth together, our shearling coats have the fleece attached to the hide and will handle anything this country does.
Black and brown
Black is the formal one and the one that works over tailoring. Brown in a longer coat looks less severe and ages better. Both are easier to wear at this length than a bright colour would be.
How a long leather coat should fit
Looser than a jacket, because you will wear more underneath it. The shoulder still has to sit correctly, and the belt should reach comfortably with room to spare rather than pulling at the last hole. Sleeve length matters more on a coat than a jacket, so check that measurement on the product page.
Measure round the fullest part of your bust over a jumper rather than a light top, since that is what you will actually be wearing underneath.
Looking after a leather coat
Long coats spend their lives brushing against things, so the hem and the back of the sleeves go first. Condition it twice a year, pay attention to those areas, and hang it on a proper wide hanger. A coat this heavy will pull itself out of shape on a wire one.
Made to order, and how long it takes
Ladies leather trench coat
A ladies leather trench coat and a womens leather trench coat mean the same garment. Trench is the belted double breasted one. If you want the length without the belt, a plain long leather coat does the same job with less shaping.
Cut and stitched in your size once you order, which is why it takes longer than ready made stock. The date on the product page is real, UK delivery is free and returns are open for 14 days. See also our biker jackets and the full women’s range.
