Women’s Beige Suedette Jacket

A soft beige jacket with a point collar, a button front and pockets at the hip. It is cut short and a little boxy, somewhere between a shirt and a jacket, and it is light enough to wear through spring and early autumn.

Suedette, not suede

Worth saying first. Suedette is polyester brushed to look and feel like suede. It is not leather. That makes it lighter, easier to care for and far kinder in the rain than real suede. If you want the real thing, our women’s suede jackets are the leather version.

Jacket, shacket or mac?

People search for a suedette lightweight jacket, and some for a suedette mac. It is a lightweight jacket. A mac is a longer raincoat, and this is neither long nor waterproof. Shacket is the closest word, because it wears like an overshirt.

The shade

It is sold as beige, and under shop lighting it reads closer to camel or light tan. Outdoors it is warmer still. It sits well with white, denim and black.

Buttons, collar and pockets

It fastens with buttons down the front rather than a zip. A pointed shirt collar sits at the neck. Two pockets at the hip. It is fully lined, so it slides on easily over a knit.

The cut

Regular fit with a structured shape, so it holds its line instead of draping. The cropped length finishes around the hip, which works best with a higher waistband.

Looking after it

Follow the care label inside. Brush it gently to lift the nap when it flattens. Keep it away from direct heat, and never iron it straight onto the surface.
