Lambskin, sheepskin or shearling?

All three are right and they describe different parts. The outer is lambskin leather, which is the softer, finer hide. The lining is heavyweight shearling, which is sheepskin with the wool left on. So if you searched for a sheepskin flying jacket or a mens shearling flying jacket, this is both.

A flying jacket cut like a biker

A traditional flying jacket zips straight up the middle. This one is set off centre in the biker way, with zipped cuffs and a closer, tailored fit. That is what separates it from a classic RAF pattern, and it is why it works in town as well as on a cold airfield.

Looking after shearling

Keep it away from direct heat, so no radiators and no tumble dryer. If it gets wet, hang it somewhere airy and let it dry on its own. Brush the shearling back up when it flattens. Use a cleaner who handles sheepskin rather than a general dry cleaner.
