Mars Brown Cafe Racer Leather Jacket

Brown leather with a vintage finish that runs darker at the seams, quilted panels across the shoulders and down the arms, and a short stand collar. It is the cafe racer cut, clean at the front and built around the shoulders.

Cafe racer, racer or biker jacket?

Mostly the same family. A cafe racer is the biker stripped back: no lapels, no belt, a zip straight up the middle and a short collar that will not flap at speed. A racer jacket usually means the same. It is lighter looking than a full biker, which is why it works just as well in town.

The quilted shoulders

The padded panels sit across the top of the shoulders and along the upper arms. They give the jacket its outline and stop the shoulders collapsing when it is hung. They are also where a rider would take the impact.

What it is made of

Real leather with a viscose lining. Viscose is the smooth lining that lets a jacket go on over a jumper without gripping your sleeves.

The collar and the zips

A short stand collar with a tab that fastens at the neck. A zip runs straight up the middle. Two zipped pockets sit high on the chest, angled so your hands can reach them easily.

The brown

The finish is two tone, lighter across the panels and darker at the seams and edges. It is what makes a new jacket look already worn in. If you want an even flat brown, this is not that one.

Sizing

Measure round the fullest part of your chest over a t shirt, keep the tape level, and use the table on this page rather than your usual high street size. Sizes run XS to 3XL.

Looking after it

Wipe it with a damp cloth when it needs it. Condition it lightly once a year, because heavy conditioning darkens the lighter panels and flattens the two tone finish. Keep it off radiators.
