Red and white, or white and red?

Real leather outside, satin lining inside. Satin is the slippery lining that lets a jacket go on over a jumper without gripping your sleeves. The white sections are leather too rather than fabric panels, so both colours wear and crease the same way.

The collar and the closure

A ban collar, which means it stands at the neck instead of folding into lapels. It gives the jacket its clean racing line. A YKK zip runs the front, and the side pockets zip as well. The cuffs are open rather than ribbed, so the sleeves sit straight.

Living with white leather

Sizing

Measure round the fullest part of your chest over a t shirt, keeping the tape level, then use the table on this page rather than your usual size. Leather has no stretch across the shoulders, so that is the measurement that decides the fit. Sizes run XS to 3XL.

Looking after it

A damp cloth and cold water for everyday marks. A cleaner who handles white leather for anything worse, not a general dry cleaner. Condition it once a year. Store it away from sunlight, because strong light yellows white leather over time. Never a radiator.
