Blue and white, or white and blue?

What it is made of

Genuine leather with a satin lining. Satin is the slippery lining that lets a jacket go on over a jumper without dragging. A YKK zip closes the front and the sleeves zip as well. Two inner pockets, one of them zipped.

The padding and the shoulder straps

The quilted sections along the sleeves sit where a rider takes the impact, and they also give the arms shape so they do not hang flat. Straps run across the shoulders, which is the detail that ties the racing look together. A pointed collar finishes it rather than a stand or a lapel.

Sizing

Measure round the fullest part of your chest over a t shirt with the tape level, then use the table on this page instead of your usual size. Leather does not stretch across the shoulders, so that measurement decides the fit. Sizes run XS to 3XL.

Looking after it

The cream panels show marks that the blue hides, so deal with them while they are fresh. A damp cloth and cold water for everyday dirt. Condition the leather once a year. Keep it out of strong sunlight, which fades a coloured hide faster than it fades black, and never dry it on a radiator.
